Lucky Duck

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Things have been very busy and I've been out of town. The first week this month I was in San Francisco for some training. It was fun and I learned a lot from the class. Got to see some of San Francisco. But wish we could have had more time to see the sites.
We did make it to Folsom Street as part of the training and then went to the Castro district for the evening. It's tough work but someone has to do it.
Got back and spent time in Sioux Falls and then went to a meeting in Chamberlain for the Episcopal Church state meeting. Curtis and Beth had a table set up for Integrity. This week it was back to Chamberlain to attend a meeting with the Campaign For Healthy Families Coalition to plan for the upcoming fights in the lesgislature.
Last evening I went to Spearfish to attend the opening night for Lucky Duck, the play being performed by the BHSU Theater Dept. The play was one of Bill Russell's musicals.
I am not a theater critic so I won't attempt to do a review. However, I can report that I laughed a lot and had a wonderful time. The play was very funny and well done. Those familiar with Bill's work know about his pention for great lines and humorous comments. It was well worth seeing and well worth the $5 admission.
I would highly recommend that everyone go to see it. It is the first time one of Bill's plays has been performed in South Dakota. I was able to visit briefly with Bill both before the play and at the reception after. Bill definitly wants to come back to help us with our Pride Festival again next summer. We will be announcing more about that as soon as we have some more details worked out.
GO SEE LUCKY DUCK!!

Some Great Videos

Over the past few days I've come across some great videos that I think need to be shared with everyone.

The first one comes from Equality Utah and suggests we "be the change."

The second comes from South Carolina about Hate Crimes and is very moving and very well done.

Finally from Wayne Besen and Truth Wins Out, a video about the importance of coming out and being true to who you are. Trying to be straight when you're not damages a lot of people besides yourself. This is timely with National Coming Out day happening tomorow October 11th.
