SAME SEX MARRIAGE CAN'T BE A STATE ISSUE

A lot of people especially the candidates for President have claimed that same sex marriage should be a states rights issue and the federal government should stay out of it. By the way, the same argument was made about slavery.

The Washington Post has a great article on why it can't be a states rights issue. The real inequities are exposed when there is a divorce.

I often thing the 'states right' arguement is often a cop out for candidates. Requirements for heterosexual marriage do differ from state to state, they should not be excluding same-sex marriages.
